At The Vale, October strikes a balance between heartfelt reflection and spirited celebration. We embrace both the profound significance of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and the enchanting excitement of Halloween.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month, born from a week-long campaign, has grown into a resounding month-long movement. We proudly stand with our community, supporting organizations like Susan G. Komen and Breast Cancer Now. Wear the iconic pink ribbon with pride, honoring survivors, and remembering those we’ve lost. Join us in fostering hope and making a difference in the fight against breast cancer.

As Halloween approaches, The Vale spirit grows spookier. Unleash your inner goblin, ghoul, or goofball.

Hi, Barbie! Costumes this year are sure to be totally Barbiecore. Let your imagination run wild—Witch Barbie, Ghost Barbie, Scarecrow Barbie— let your creativity run wild. Don’t want to party as a Barbie? Creative, silly, punny, and scary costumes are always welcome! If you got it, haunt it.

Spiders, eyeballs, and skeletons—oh my! Decorating is the highlight of spooky season. Craft spiders, a glow-in-the-dark eyeball wreath, or assemble your own skeleton army! For those not inclined to craft, stores like Target, Walmart, and Home Goods offer wicked decor options.

Join us in honoring Breast Cancer Awareness Month with hope and unity, and then dive into the Halloween spirit with a dose of fun and a sprinkle of spookiness. October at The Vale has something for everyone, and we’re excited to share it with you!

Who’s ready to beat the heat? Don’t get us wrong, we are loving this August weather! However, a cool refreshing treat can be just what you need right now. Using your state-of-the-art kitchen here at The Vale, check out these delicious treats to make all summer long- maybe even all year long!

Lemon Bars are always a great dessert for August, as lemons are in season all summer long. With bright bursts of lemon, buttery sweetness, and crispy crust, these easy lemon bars will be irresistible.

Ice Cream Sandwiches can be customized and will be a delicious dessert. Make your own cookies or get them from the store. Take two cookies, put a scoop of ice cream in the middle, and maybe even roll it in sprinkles!

Dirt Dessert may not sound appetizing, but you will soon fall in love with it. With ingredients like Oreos, cheesecake filling, and gummy worms- there’s no way to go wrong.

Peanut Butter Icebox Cake is a no-bake dessert, meaning it is ideal for rising temperatures with no need to heat your oven. With a prep time of fewer than 15 minutes, you might be making icebox cakes for the reason of the season.

Remember, if you don’t feel like making anything from scratch, an ice cream sundae bar will be just the thing you need!

The United States Independence Day is annually celebrated on the fourth of July. A federal holiday in the US since 1941 but the history and tradition of the celebration goes back to the 18th century and the American Revolution.

It was July 2nd, 1776 when the Continental Congress voted in favor of independence. Two days later, on July 4th, delegates of all thirteen colonies adopted the Declaration of Independence. Then, from 1776 until the present day, July 4th has been celebrated as the birthday of American independence. Celebrations for July 4th range from large festivities such as fireworks, parades, and concerts to casual get-togethers like barbecues with family, friends, and loved ones.

Fireworks, parades, concerts, and barbecues are all class 4th of July staples, but there are even more ways to celebrate this American holiday. First and foremost, score any deals you can! From snacks to kitchen appliances, there are tons of discounts and steals you can find.

Make red, white, and blue treats! From a cake decorated with a flag to a layered yogurt parfait. You could attend a baseball game, or a historical landmark or museum in order to learn more about our country’s history.

The Vale is proud to celebrate Independence Day in our community in Washington, DC.

Happy June! Summer is officially here The Vale residents! Well officially on the 21st, but that is right around the corner. Summer starts every year on the summer solstice, the longest day of the year- the day with the most sunlight. Now that warmer weather and longer days are here to stay, there needs to be plenty of activities to keep everyone busy and having fun.

Now that the sun is constantly shining, everyone has a little extra pep in their step. We all want some extra special things to do this season. Throw on a cute outfit, get out in the sun, and have some fun in Washington, DC.

A few lively outdoor activities include having a picnic, going to a parade, making tye-dye clothes, watching a game, or taking a hike. While spending time outside this season, bring out your inner kid and have a ball! Run through sprinklers, go down a slip ‘n’ slide, ride ferris wheels and roller coasters, or have a water balloon fight.

Maybe you prefer some relaxation. Of course, going to the beach and sunbathing, reading, or listening to music is always a good idea. If you can’t get to a beach then star-gazing, spa days, wine tasting, or even going tech-free can all be incredibly relaxing!

This year, Memorial Day is honored on May 29, 2023. The Vale is proud to celebrate Memorial Day as a federal United States holiday that honors America’s military members who have lost their lives in service to our country. Always observed on the last Monday of the month of May.

For a lot of Americans, Memorial Day is the unofficial start of summer. Many people attend parades, go to the beach, or have barbeques with family and friends- which can be hosted right here at The Vale. But at its core, Memorial Day is a yearly remembrance for those who have sacrificed their lives in the military service.

Each year, throughout a television broadcast, a Memorial Day Parade is broadcasted as a tribute to our Nation’s fallen heroes. Presented by Boeing returns live to Constitution Avenue this Memorial Day, May 29, at 2:00 PM. Whether you come to watch live, in-person, or on television from around the country, or the world, the story of American sacrifice is shared from Washington DC to The Vale and beyond.

The Annual Memorial Day Parade takes place alongside Constitution Ave NW and lasts until roughly 5 pm. The Parade features marching bands, floats, performers, and veterans promenading down the Constitution! The steps of the National Archives are a very popular place to watch the parade, so make sure to arrive early.

Whether you’re excited or dreading spring cleaning, the time is finally here. Not only will a clean and organized space look great, but it will also improve moods, decrease stress levels, and increase creativity. It is the ideal time to put away winter essentials and prepare your space for the warm weather.

The best tip for spring cleaning is to break larger tasks into small chores. For example, work room by room to focus your energy. Another way to do this would be to complete one type of chore at a time. Such as doing all of the dusting or all of the vacuuming at once.

Next, focus on practical organization. Everyone has seen those videos online of fabulously organized refrigerators and nightstands, but they are not always practical. This year, focus on organization with practicality and usefulness.

Along with the usual chores, use this time to properly put away anything you only need for winter, like heavy coats. Then turn your attention to deep cleaning- cleaning parts of your space that are often forgotten, such as baseboards, shower curtains, and window dressings.

See spring cleaning as an opportunity for a fresh start The Vale residents, not a daunting task.
