Where To Go Pumpkin Picking Near Your Vale Apartment

Whether you’re five or 50, there’s no activity more necessary during October than pumpkin picking! Even though we live in a bustling city, it’s still easy to escape to the many farms that we have on the outskirts of Washington, D.C. for a fun afternoon pumpkin picking with family or friends.

Check out these farms throughout the region for the perfect way to kick off the fall season – and a perfect pumpkin for displaying at your Vale apartment.

Shlagel Farms, located at 12850 Shlagel Rd, Waldorf, MD which is 50 minutes from your Vale apartment, is a 110-year-old farm owned by the third generation of the Shlagel family. Dedicated to sustainable farming, they use no till planting whenever possible to reduce the disturbance and loss of the soil as well as organic pesticides.

During the weekends of each fall, Shlagel Farms hosts their annual fall festival when they open for pumpkin picking, hay rides, petting zoo fun, a straw maze and baby chick holding. All of these activities are available from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission costs $9 per person and pumpkins are .69 cents per pound when picked from the field.

Summers Farm, located at 7503 Hollow Rd, Middletown, MD which is 50 minutes from your Vale apartment, is an 88-year-old farm that has been hosting its annual fall festival for 26 years. The festival regularly attracts thousands of people looking for wholesome fun for the entire family.

With over 45+ fun activities, the farm is the perfect destination for family fun, corporate outings, field trips, Scout outings and more. Today, kids of all ages can experience jumping on the straw, going down hills, and getting lost in the corn just like the Summers family always did.
