The big day has finally arrived! Friday, September 24 marked the start of a new chapter in Northwest DC with the grand opening of The Parks at Walter Reed, a 66-acre residential community in the heart of Brightwood. In addition to incredible residences like the Brooks condominiums and The Vale apartments, The Parks is home to 20 acres of lush green space, over 18,000 square feet of retail space, a 10,000 square foot dog park, 12-week farmers market, free outdoor fitness classes and so much more.
Ward 4 Councilmember Janeese Lewis George was a guest of honor at the event, speaking to the audience about the future of The Parks as a gathering place for the entire neighborhood. “I’m thinking about all of the families, all of the young people, old people, everyone, all of us together, living in this beautiful community and interacting,” said George. She then joined investors and developers for the official ribbon cutting, as spectators and residents dined on empanadas from local vendor Andrene’s Soul Food & Caribbean Café and joined the celebration.
