Four Ways to Get Outside at The Vale

Inside The Vale you’ll discover artful living – where your space becomes your creative canvas, and no detail is spared. But step outside, and you’ll find something just as distinctive – 20 acres of greenspace throughout The Parks at Walter Reed, all yours to roam. There are plenty of ways to enjoy this space; here are a few of our recommendations:

Jazz in the Parks
Bring a blanket and some beverages to the Great Lawn for some laid-back jazz performances on select Saturday evenings – with a few choice food trucks on-site. August 21 hosts Richmond’s Butcher Brown, and on September 18 D.C.’s own Rochelle Rice will take to the stage.

Movies on the lawn
The Parks have added free outdoor movies to their Saturday night lineup on the Great Lawn in partnership with Blackfilm.com and the Home Rule Music and Film Preservation Foundation. In addition to food trucks, enjoy beer from 3 Stars, Anxo cider, ice cream from Everyday Sundae and even vinyl from HR Records. Come for the jazz, stay for movie night with these films:

● August 21 – “Get On Up”

● September 11 – “Soul”

● October 2 – “Queen of Katwe”

Weekly outdoor yoga
Start the week o right with some mindfulness and stress relief every Sunday morning from Yoga Heights DC. Yogis of all experience levels are invited to the Great Lawn for the free weekly yoga sessions from 9:30-10:30am.

Play fetch (coming soon)
Take your furry friend for a morning playdate at the Parks’ forthcoming 10,000- square-foot dog park, with separate space for small and large pups and agility equipment for them to explore. Ater, you can wash them o at The Vale’s on-site pet spa. Create your own vibe at The Vale, inside or out. Schedule your tour today.
